Young trainers will soon be able to explore new worlds as they build their team of Pokémon! In the free-to-start game Pokémon Champions, available April 8, kids will use their new team to face other players in online battles on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
There are two ways to catch them all in Pokémon Champions. Longtime players can connect to the Pokémon HOME app to recruit their Pokémon from the Pokémon RPG series and Pokémon GO app. Trainers can also start fresh, recruiting one random Pokémon a day. These Pokémon will only be available for one week before kids will need to catch more. With Victory Points, players can catch multiple Pokémon a day or recruit Pokémon permanently. Points can also be used to train Pokémon, purchase battle music, and more.
Online battles allow kids to compete with a team of six Pokémon in one-on-one Single Battles or two-on-two Double Battles. Trainers can emerge victorious through turn-based play as they use various strategies to defeat their similarly ranked opponents in Ranked Battles. Casual Battles make for relaxing gameplay, where trainers can test new strategies without recorded wins or losses.
Pokémon Champions will be playable on both Nintendo Switch consoles. Nintendo Switch 2 users can access an enhanced visual gameplay through a free system update. When the game launches, players will need to be connected to the internet and download the latest update to play with these enhancements.
