If your music-loving kid won’t listen when you tell them to clean their room, maybe they’ll listen to Elmo. Next month, Sesame Workshop is releasing Parody Party, an album featuring fun, educational recreations of hit songs from the last two decades.
Got to Go, a playful parody of Chappell Roan’s Hot to Go, encourages kids to listen to their bodies when it’s time to go to the bathroom. Sort It All, a new take on Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off, takes kids through Sesame Street friends’ journey through recycling. Share It Maybe, a parody of Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe teaches kids about the importance of sharing.
The album also includes parodies of hit songs by RAYE, Icona Pop, Bruno Mars, and even the smash-hit movie KPop Demon Hunters. The Parody Party lead single, Take A Bite, an appetizing take on Mars’ I Just Might, dropped with a music video June 25.
Almost all the Sesame Street friends will be included in the upcoming album. Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, Zoe, and Rosita will all have their times to shine.
The album will be available for streaming and purchase July 26. Families can presave the album on all major streaming platforms.
