I wasn’t originally planning to review back-to-back Titanosaurus toys but then late last week I caught wind of this large plush “pillow buddy” and knew I had to track it down for my youngest as a Christmas present. This also gave me the fun opportunity to review another Titanosaurus immediately following my last one. Since we discussed the actual Titanosaurus, it’s Jurassic World design, and its accuracy last week we can just dive right into examining the toy this time around.

This plush Titanosaurus appears to be exclusive to Walmart, as that’s the only retailer that I can find that carries it and its tag even has an advertisement for Walmart’s website. Walmart’s site advertises it as a pillow buddy and classifies it as a throw pillow, but that designation is not on any of the tags. It’s an apt description though, being both large and well stuffed, it could serve as a pillow of sorts. The toy is made out of 100% polyester with polyester stuffing.

The toy is advertised as standing 21” (53.34 cm) tall and measuring 17” (43.18 cm) long but that’s in a straight line and when measured along its curves it comes out to be 38” (96.52 cm) long! The toy has enough stuffing that it’s plump and firm and stands soundly, without the neck sagging.

The toy is mostly brown with rows of dark brown irregularly shaped rectangles that denote scales. The underside of the neck and belly are made of white shaggy faux fur. The fur is a curious addition to a plush dinosaur but not unwelcome, adding a touch of cuddly charm. The nasal sac is made out of elastic, stocking-like material, and the fins are thin strips of fabric sewn in along the back. Thin bits of orange fabric are also sewn in along the neck, between the brown fabric and faux fur portions. The toy appears well constructed with sturdy seams, but I am concerned that my toddler will want to pull the fur out.

The mouth, eyes, nostrils, and black bands down the neck are all embroidered and there are no small, hard bits attached to the toy. There’s also an embroidered Jurassic World logo behind the left hindleg. The eyes imply a disgruntled demeanor, with angry looking eyebrows and wrinkles stitched around them. The toenails are made of stiff bits of fabric and there are three on each limb.

I’m rarely interested in plush dinosaurs, but this one was too cool to pass up. I reckon I would have purchased it even without kids in the house! This plush Titanosaurus makes for a cheap and cuddly alternative to the plastic Mattel version and with its bright colors, large size, and sturdy construction, is sure to impress dinosaur and Jurassic World fans, young and old. This toy is currently available at Walmart for $16.
