Slobots never left—they just got smaller. Independent artist Mike Slobot has been quietly expanding his robot universe from the studio, and this year marks a clear directional shift: moving away from large-scale sculptures and fully embracing the mini format, with all new pieces coming in under 5 inches.
Size may have shrunk, but the handcrafted intensity remains unchanged. Every new Slobot is still designed, 3D-printed, and hand-finished by Mike himself, retaining that beloved “worn-in, used-up” artisanal texture that collectors have always appreciated. Weathered paint wear, chunky blocky forms, expressive single-eyed heads, and a vintage mechanical character—these little mechanical oddities look as though they’ve just staggered out of a miniature industrial wasteland, each carrying its own story in search of a home.
This new wave also comes with a collector-friendly adjustment: a deliberate price reduction. At a time when art-toy prices are generally trending upward, the artist has chosen to make his new work more accessible—meaning more people can bring home one of these handcrafted robots without emptying their wallets.
The latest batch features a variety of forms: weathered distressed robots, boxy modular designs, and a delightfully named piece—“Yellowy Yellow”—paying tribute to the YouTube craft channel The Crafsman. From green metallic-body units and yellow cube wanderers to warm orange weathered robots, the recognisable Slobot aesthetic remains unmistakable—just more compact, more refined, and with an even higher density of hand-done detailing.
All new Slobot pieces are now available for purchase through Mike Slobot’s official website.
