Mattel is joining the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary with a series of brand activations, community initiatives, and family-focused experiences taking place throughout the summer.
The company’s plans span several of its flagship brands, including Hot Wheels, Barbie, and American Girl, with activities designed to engage families through play, creativity, and shared experiences. The programming coincides with the country’s semi-quincentennial celebrations and will appear at events, on social media, and through special product tie-ins.
“America’s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to spotlight the people, communities, and stories that have shaped our nation, says Roberto Stanichi, executive vice president and Chief Brand Officer, Mattel. “Across our iconic brands, we’re creating moments for families to come together, celebrate shared experiences, and be inspired by the creativity, innovation, and imagination that continue to define America.”
Hot Wheels kicks off activities June 20 during the Charlotte stop of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour. A custom red, white, and blue life-size Deora vehicle — inspired by one of the Original 16 Hot Wheels die-cast cars introduced in 1968 — makes appearances at select tour stops throughout the summer, including events in Birmingham, Houston, Dallas, and El Segundo. Fans attending the events can view the vehicle, participate in family-friendly activities, and celebrate automotive culture.

Barbie is also taking part in the anniversary festivities. Beginning July 11, the brand will be featured on a new U.S. Postal Service Barbie Commemorative Forever stamp collection highlighting 10 careers from Barbie’s more than 65-year history. The collection spotlights roles including astronaut, surgeon, paleontologist, soccer player, sign language teacher, and music star.
Meanwhile, American Girl commemorates Independence Day with patriotic-themed content across its social platforms.
The anniversary effort also follows Mattel’s recent International Day of Play and Play it Forward Global Volunteer Week celebrations, which incorporated America-themed activities during Camp Mattel, an event that welcomed more than 700 children from local schools and nonprofit organizations to the company’s headquarters for a day of play and imagination.
Families can follow the summer-long celebrations through Mattel’s brand channels and participating events nationwide or by visiting mattel.com.
