The Chicago Toy & Game Fair (CHITAG) is preparing to celebrate 50 years of Star Wars at its 2026 event with themed experiences, fan group appearances, and interactive activities inspired by the franchise.
Hosted by People of Play, a division of The Toy Association, CHITAG will take place Nov. 5-8 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Illinois.
According to the organizers, the show floor will feature immersive Star Wars-themed programming commemorating the 50th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope, which first debuted in 1977. Attendees can expect appearances from fan organizations, including the 501st Legion Vader’s Fist, Chicago Jedi, and Saber Guild Olega Temple.
Fans will also have opportunities to interact with costumed characters from across the Star Wars universe, including Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Grogu, Jedi, droids, and Rebel pilots. Planned activities include photo opportunities, lightsaber demonstrations, and themed experiences designed for attendees of all ages.
Mary Couzin says the anniversary celebration reflects CHITAG’s focus on connecting toy culture, fandom, and play experiences for families and collectors. “CHITAG has always celebrated what’s happening in the toy space and the cultural moments that bring fans together,” she says. “May the Force be with you!”
Presented annually by People of Play, CHITAG combines consumer-focused toy and game experiences with inventor events, industry networking, and interactive programming. Additional details about the 2026 show are expected to be announced in the coming months.
