Sesame Workshop Helps Kids Tackle Big Emotions with New Resources

Sesame Workshop is stepping up with additional resources to help small children manage their big feelings and reinforce their social problem-solving skills.

The nonprofit is continuing its emotional well-being initiative with new tools and digital content featuring Sesame Street characters. The new resources, available in several languages, are funded by the MetLife Foundation, the Morgan Stanley Alliance for Children’s Mental Health, and more.

Some of the new resources, including videos, articles, and books, focus on equipping kids and caregivers with tools to foster nurturing relationships and social connections. Kids in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, India, and the Middle East will have support from Elmo and friends as they navigate learning about other perspectives, kind gestures, and teamwork.

Additionally, families can watch new videos and listen to a new song titled “We Can Do Hard Things,” each designed to help parents strengthen their kids’ emotional resilience. Sesame Workshop has also released online articles featuring characters like Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Grover, and others, tackling important topics such as active listening, community-building, and problem-solving through teamwork.

Storytime can also include educational moments with new children’s books from Random House, Chronicle Books, Lerner Publishing Group, and Mayo Clinic Press Kids.

In Elmo’s Day with Rocco, young ones will learn to express themselves as Elmo does. The newest addition to Random House’s Little Golden Book collection features illustrations in the classic Funko Pop! style. Kids and parents will laugh along as Elmo, Zoe, and Rocco embark on a new adventure.

Based on Elmo’s viral post from 2024, Elmo Checks In: How Is Everybody Doing? from Chronicle Books offers comfort and reassurance to kids whenever they need it. Lerner Publishing will also release a six-book series this fall — Building Relationships with Sesame Street addresses emotional and social themes that kids need as they grow up.

Meanwhile, Mayo Clinic Press Kids will debut its Everyday Feelings with Sesame Street series with the first installment, Get the Wiggles Out: Playful Ways to Embrace Every Feeling, later this month. The book encourages kids to get moving and shows ways they can manage their emotions by being active. More books in the series will be released throughout the year.

Parents can find the new resources in English and Spanish for free online at sesame.org/mentalhealth. For more information about Sesame Workshop’s emotional well-being initiative, visit sesame.org.
