Mobile Milestones, and Tabletop Expansions Lead This Week’s Game News

Nintendo headlines this week’s roundup with a fresh wave of Nintendo Switch 2 content, including new releases, preorders, and in-game events. Beyond console updates, the slate reflects broader industry movement, from a major anniversary update for Talking Tom Gold Run to the expansion of Clash Royale and Clash of Clans into tabletop formats, underscoring how game makers continue to extend popular properties across platforms and play experiences.

Talking Tom Gold Run Introduces Relic Rush Event with New Survival Mechanics

Outfit7 is celebrating 10 years of Talking Tom Gold Run with the launch of the limited-time Relic Rush event, available now on iOS and Android through May 2. The update introduces a new Egyptian-themed environment and a core gameplay shift, replacing the traditional endless runner format with a constant threat: a rising toxic cloud that forces players to keep moving or risk instant defeat.

Set in a desert landscape filled with crumbling ruins and new hazards, the event emphasizes speed and precision, with the pursuing gas intensity scaling with player performance. Players can collect Scarab Tokens to unlock themed character outfits, while a hidden “Secret Level” offers an additional challenge for advanced players.

Nintendo Highlights Bandit Trap, Star Wars Monopoly, and New Content in Latest eShop Update

Nintendo’s latest eShop update is led by the debut of Bandit Trap for Nintendo Switch 2, a physics-based multiplayer brawler centered on trap-building and chaotic gameplay. The update also spotlights Monopoly: Star Wars Heroes vs. Villains, which launches June 10 on both Switch platforms and blends team-based strategy with character abilities from across the Star Wars universe.

Additional highlights include new music tracks from Mario Tennis Aces and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Nintendo Music app, as well as the upcoming 53rd Maximus Cup event in Tetris 99, running May 1-4. The weekly update also brings a broad lineup of new titles to Nintendo Switch, with several releases rolling out through early May.

Maestro Media, Supercell Bring Clash Franchise from Mobile to Tabletop

Maestro Media and Supercell are expanding the Clash franchise beyond screens with two tabletop releases based on Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. The move marks a broader push to translate the strategy and competitive elements of the digital titles into physical gameplay experiences designed for at-home and in-store play.

Clash Royale: The Grand Arena debuts via Kickstarter in September, adapting the real-time mobile gameplay into a turn-based format where 2-4 players build decks, manage resources, and compete across lane-based arenas.

“Clash Royale: The Grand Arena represents the next step in expanding the Clash! franchise alongside our partners at Supercell,” explains Javon Frazier, CEO and Founder of Maestro Media.

Meanwhile, Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid is set to hit retail shelves beginning in July at major outlets, following a successful crowdfunding campaign last year. Both titles aim to recreate the core mechanics of their digital counterparts —  base-building, resource management, and head-to-head battles — while emphasizing social, around-the-table play.

“Together with our new retail availability for Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid, we’re building a connected tabletop ecosystem that brings the strategy, competition, and energy of the Clash franchise to life in a way that keeps players engaged far beyond the screen and around the table for years to come,” Frazier adds.
