Bioworld Launches New In-House Investment Division

In 2000, Bioworld Merchandising jumped into the highly competitive pop culture licensing industry without any external capital. This gamble paid off in spades, and 25 years later, the company has grown into a global powerhouse with more than 1,000 brands and 2,000 retail partners to its name. Now, as Bioworld celebrates its 25th anniversary, it’s establishing its own corporate venture fund to help others achieve the same success. 

Named Bioworld Ventures, Bioworld’s in-house investment division will help support innovative consumer brands worldwide, providing startups with the tools they need to get off the ground. In addition to capital, Bioworld Ventures will also provide early-stage businesses with operational support, logistics, and industry expertise — all without mandatory service agreements. 

“Bioworld Ventures represents the evolution of our global brand — providing the opportunity for us to further extend our expertise to elevate and invest in consumer brands that are focused on product innovation,” said Raj Malik, CEO and founder of Bioworld. “For 25 years, we’ve built a global platform that helps great ideas scale, and now we’re formalizing that into a dedicated investment arm.”

Under the leadership of Matt Alexander, Bioworld’s VP of Corporate Development, the fund will focus on Seed- and Series A-stage businesses in the U.S., U.K., and Canada, with potential expansion to other countries in the future. These strategic investments help give a global platform to fresh faces and new ideas, ushering in the next generation of disruptive, category-defining consumer brands.
