Readers of all ages can welcome the holidays with Jan Brett’s new picture book, The Christmas Sweater! The seasonal story from G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers will be available on Nov. 25.

The hardcover picture book follows Theo and his pug, Ari. After Ari refuses a Christmas sweater knit by Theo’s Yiayia, the pair loses the sweater as it unravels during a snowy hike. Little ones will learn about love, friendship, appreciation, home, and holiday magic while reading about Theo and Ari’s adventures. Brett’s detailed artwork makes this a cozy seasonal read for families, dog lovers, and knitting fans.
Families will recognize Brett’s storytelling and illustrations from more than 40 picture books, including holiday favorites such as The Mitten, The Nutcracker, and The Snowy Nap.

After the release, Brett will embark on her annual national bus tour, a long-standing tradition that brings her to bookstores, libraries, and schools across the country. The 17-day tour starts Nov. 28 and covers 23 cities, from New England to the Midwest and down to the Southeast. Families can spot custom tour buses, which are wrapped with artwork from The Christmas Sweater ($19.99).
Stops on this year’s route include major cities such as Boston, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Austin, Orlando, and more. To find a tour date near you, visit janbrett.com. Readers can preorder the book below.
