Wahoo! Mario is waving ‘hi’ to families by joining the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Families can celebrate 40 years of Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. with a balloon straight from the Mushroom Kingdom.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Since launching in 1985, its video gamefranchise has expanded with popular titles such as Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Super Mario Party Jamboree. Outside of gaming, families can see Mario return to the big screen with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, premiering April 3, 2026.
This November, families will see Mario reach new heights as he soars over the streets of Manhattan. Created by Macy’s Parade Studio team, the balloon measures 51-feet and 2-inches long, 37-feet wide, and 43-feet and 8-inches tall. At the parade, kids will see Mario’s signature blue overalls, red cape, and striking pose inspired by Super Mario Galaxy.
Families can see Mario float by in New York City or watch the parade live on NBC. The 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will also be available for streaming on Peacock from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in all time zones.
